Our special keepsake doesn't just feature our preppies. Our teachers also get their starring roles alongside their well-behaved pupils.

St Francis Xavier prep teacher Alexandra Murphy has a passion for children and teaching and doesn't see herself leaving the role anytime soon.

"I've loved children since an early age and thought teaching would be a fitting career," Ms Murphy said.

"I love the students smiling, happy faces ready to come into the classroom in the morning and seeing how eager they are to learn each day."

Heading to university straight after high school she especially enjoyed the practical side of learning, being able to put what she had learnt at university into practise in the classroom.

Her favourite teaching subject is religion and she says the children really love to learn about it.

Ms Murphy said teaching was extremely rewarding especially in the early years.

"Students start off not being able to do some things or not knowing something and by the end of the year they are confident and capable," she said.

"My favourite part is seeing how far each child has grown at the end of the year and moving into grade one determined and courageous."

To other inspiring teachers she says make sure you're passionate about children and absorb as much information as possible at university.

She says it is important when you enter the classroom to know what you want to do, know what your expectations are and know what you want to put in place.
