A brand new brewery and restaurant is officially coming to a rural suburb just 30 minutes north of Mackay, after an Italian family’s ambitious plans for expansion were approved by council.
The Mount Jukes Family Farm agritourism venture is being transformed from humble outdoor chairs and a food truck into an indoor restaurant on their Kuttabul property.
Using ingredients grown on the families 18.3ha property, the family run business will be updating its menu to include homemade pasta, goats cheese, goats milk made products, lamb dishes and Italian gelato made from their own bananas and locally grown mangoes.
The indoor restaurant’s initial opening hours will be 10am to 8pm Thursday to Sunday and a small shop will also be open on the premises.
Development will take place on the plot where the pre-existing outdoor food venue stands and will cover an area of almost 3,000 sqm with frontage on the Kuttabul-Mount Jukes Rd.
The owners plan to build a sealed car park with a capacity of 20 vehicles for visitors.
The approval of the Mount Jukes Family Farms restaurant and brewery makes it the fourth brewery to open in the Mackay region in recent years with Red Dog opening its second location in 2023 and Goanna Brewing opening on Victoria St earlier in the year.
