Moranbah East State School to get new $12.8M learning centre

The search is on to find a construction business to deliver a $12.8 million project approved for a large public school in the Isaac region.
Moranbah East State School principal Rod Finney said he was “very pleased” the school would receive a new two-storey learning centre and works to the car park.
“With an expanding student enrolment, the funding of this project will provide for our school community for many years to come,” Mr Finney said.
MySchool data shows the school currently has 670 enrolled students compared to Moranbah State School which has 573.
Enrolment numbers have grown 6.5 per cent since 2016.
Education Minister Grace Grace said she was “thrilled” about the centre which would include three learning centres, a STEM space, staff room, offices, student and staff amenities, lift access, and an outdoor learning space.
“The $12.8 million project is currently out to tender, with the contract expected to be awarded in early 2023,” Mrs Grace said.
“(It is) planned to be completed for the start of the 2024 school year.”
Mrs Grace said the state government’s current budget had invested almost $2 billion in education infrastructure with a commitment to “providing a world-class education” to all Queensland students.
