Man in wheelchair attacked outside Mackay Central State School

Police were called to the area of Mackay Central State School after reports of a woman chasing a man in a wheelchair early in the afternoon.
Police were called to the area of Mackay Central State School after reports of a woman chasing a man in a wheelchair early in the afternoon.

Police were called to the area of Mackay Central State School sometime before 2pm after it was reported that a woman was chasing a man in a wheelchair.

The incident reportedly took place on Nelson St, when police were informed that an individual in a wheelchair had started to flee the area after being struck by a woman.

A QPS spokeswoman said, “initial reports were of someone chasing a man in a wheelchair, quite close to the school”.

“There were no weapons sighted.”

The person was then reported to have stood from the chair and begun to hobble away from the scene.

Police were unable to locate either individual when they arrived to the school.

At approximately 2:10pm, an individual in a wheelchair was sighted on Hamlet street and could be seen speaking with police.

Police continued to investigate the surrounding suburbs until around 3pm.

The investigation is ongoing.
