Mackay’s peak tourism organisation will change its name in the new financial year to reflect it bringing another region into the fold.
Mackay Tourism will officially change to Mackay Isaac Tourism on July 1 as the organisation partners with Isaac Regional Council to showcase the best of both regions.
Isaac tourism development officer Liana Jones works out of Moranbah to develop the region’s tourism.
Mackay Tourism chairman and Mackay Regional Councillor Justin Englert said the union recognised this growth and the close relationship between the two organisations over the past few years.
“This change of name identifies the hard work both organisations have put in to cultivate unique tourism experiences in the region,” Cr Englert said.
In announcing the name change, Mackay Tourism also released its coffee book, Discover our Home.
CEO Tas Webber said it celebrated the diversity and uniqueness of Mackay Isaac region experiences.
“The #mymackay and #ourisaac competitions provided us with some amazing pictures of the natural landscapes our home has to offer,” Mr Webber said.
“We have taken those pictures and included them in our new coffee table book.
“This book shows the beauty of our region from the eyes of a local.”
