Mackay roadworks skirted a parked blue Holden on Glenella Connection Road

You can’t go over it, you can’t go under it, you’ve got to around it. It seems the blue Holden proved quite the obstacle for Mackay road workers.

An abandoned blue Holden proved to be an obstacle for road workers on the Glenella Connection Rd.

Recent works showed asphalt skirted around the vehicle, leaving barren ground and parts of the old road visible beneath the car.

The Holden bearing a red P-plate was covered in dust and parked in the northbound lane on the northern side of the bridge.

The spokeswoman said they had worked with police to try and contact the owner of the vehicle but had been unsuccessful. Picture: Lillian Watkins

A Transport and Main Roads spokeswoman said the owner of the vehicle could not be found.

She said they had worked with police to try and contact the owner of the vehicle but had been unsuccessful.

Because the vehicle was deemed to be parked legally and not considered a safety risk, the spokeswoman said they had needed to consult police.

“If a vehicle is in an unsafe area on a state-controlled road, we can arrange for local council to move it without consulting police,” she said.

The spokeswoman said TMR would rectify the section of asphalt works as soon as possible.
