Mackay cats still need to be registered

CATS will continue to be registered in Mackay.

CATS will continue to be registered in Mackay.

Despite the State Government passing legislation that allow council's to choose whether or not registration of cats is mandatory - Mackay Regional Council today decided to retain their current cat registration program.

Waste, health and regulatory services councilor Laurence Bonaventura said the program allowed the council to return lost cats to their owners.

"With hundreds of cats straying from home each year it's important that we have a system in place that allows us to return cats to their owners," he said.

Registering your de-sexed cat in Mackay costs $5 and $30 for a full cat.
