A Mackay child was flown to Townsville overnight after he hit by a car in Andergrove, leaving him in a life-threatening condition.

Emergency services arrived to Superior Blvd just after 5.01pm March 25 to reports of a vehicle and pedestrian incident.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics treated a primary school aged boy with potentially life-threatening chest and arm injuries.

He was rushed to the Mackay Base Hospital and a Mackay Hospital and Health Service spokesperson said he was flown overnight to the Townsville University Hospital.

A Townsville Hospital and Health Service spokesperson said the patient was now in a stable condition.
