SHOPPING is about to become more convenient than ever, with a development application for a new Coles in Andergrove given the green light by Mackay councillors on Wednesday.
It has been 12 months since the grocery giant submitted expanded development plans to council, which include a Coles, Liquorland, an 'eat street' and specialty stores.
The material change of use application also lists a medical centre and pharmacy as part of the development.
The precinct will be built across the road from the existing Woolworths shopping complex on Oak Street, Andergrove.
Coles Group Property Development Limited first submitted its development application to Mackay Regional Council in 2011, with a time extension approved by council in 2015.
The plans include a 4940 sqm complex with 221 parking spots.
Reel Planning, the company that submitted the development plans on behalf of Coles, were contacted for comment but declined an interview.
