DOMESTIC violence kills about one woman in Australia every week and this year White Ribbon Queensland are asking for your help.
This Friday, residents are encouraged to join the Mackay courts' senior registrar Leanne Coulthard in decorating their letterboxes with white ribbons, balloons, lights, teddy bears, flowers, streamers or bedsheets to raise awareness and strike conversations about domestic violence.
Ms Coulthard said her role made her witness to the impact of domestic violence in Mackay as well as her involvement in the White Ribbon committee.
"That's why I'll be putting the white ribbon on my mailbox," Ms Coulthard said.
"It will show support to the movement and show even though with COVID, (domestic violence) is still out there, it still exists.
"By putting the white ribbon - it shows we're trying to bring domestic violence out of the shadows.
"If you see or hear it, don't be afraid to start a conversation with someone, or report it."

White Ribbon Queensland chairman Chiu-Hing Chan said figures showed domestic violence at home had tripled during COVID-19.
"We know that events on their own are not enough - we need communities to mobilise for change," Mr Chiu-Hing Chan said.
"The purpose of White Ribbon Day this year is to not only speak about the change that is needed, but to get involved in creating it.
"It saddens me to say that on average 52 women die from domestic and family violence each year, and that number increases every year.
"By tying a White Ribbon around your letterbox, you encourage everyone in your community to become involved and demonstrate their stance."
