ONE of Mackay's long-time aged care facilities has undergone a major facelift much to the delight of residents and employees.
The refurbishment of several facilities within Blue Care Homefield complex was completed recently.
About 80 people gathered at the facility in George Street to celebrate the opening of a new wellness centre as well as the renovation of several rooms and ensuites.
Blue Care Homefield comprises 56 refurbished rooms with shared or single ensuites as well as an extended 18-unit memory support unit for specialised care of people living with dementia.
As well as the new interior work, the complex now also has new garden and outdoor areas.
Blue Care Central Queensland general manager Heather Henderson said Homefield had worked hard to become a modern, comfortable home and workplace.
"Homefield holds a special place in the heart of the Mackay community,” Ms Henderson said.
UnitingCare executive officer Craig Barke said Blue Care was excited to mark the opening of the facility and to follow through on its commitment to deliver the highest quality of care.
"This exciting redevelopment has revitalised older buildings to create a modern environment for residents and our team,” Mr Barke said.
