AIRLIE Beach patrons were star-struck when American actors Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson and Donald Sutherland sat down to breakfast at Capers at the Beach Bar and Grill at the weekend.

McConaughey, who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a T-shirt, seemed relaxed but eager to watch a game of American football on television on Saturday morning at the eatery on the Airlie Beach Esplanade.

Kate Hudson was said to live up to her reputation as "a nice and bubbly person" and was looking the epitome of Hollywood glamour in a white summer dress.

The three actors are currently in the Whitsundays to shoot the movie Fool's Gold.

Leaving soon after breakfast, Hudson and Sutherland left McConaughey to relax and watch the football game until he left the premises about 4pm.

According to Capers manager Leah McHenry, all three stars were "lovely and polite".

"They were all nice to everyone, it was a real treat to have stars in Airlie Beach," Ms McHenry said
