Harrup Park will host Legends on the Lawn concert

Legends of the Australian music industry will perform at a stellar live event in Mackay in May. Find out who.

Mackay will play host to a number of legends of the Aussie music industry in a spectacular live music event.

Jimmy Barnes will be the headline act but he will be joined by a stellar line up including The Living End, Jon Stevens, Vanessa Amorosi, Busby Marou and Christine Anu for Legends on the Lawn.

Busby Marou are among the stellar acts to perform at Legends on the Lawn in Mackay in May.

The incredible event, put on by the organisers of Red Hot Summer Tour, will play out at Harrup Park on May 21, but tickets go on sale in four days – from 10am on February 24.

Mr Barnes said he was excited to bring live music to Mackay, after a difficult 24 months for the industry.

“The music industry has changed a lot because of Covid, but live music will not change,” he said.

“I’m really excited to be touring with some really good friends and enjoy the tropics up north.”

Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson said the region was ready to rock with some global superstars.

“Mackay is ready to rock with Legends on the Lawn in May,” he said.

“To have big names like Jimmy Barnes, The Living End, and Jon Stevens performing in Mackay, is a tremendous result for our community and our economy.

“Anyone visiting Mackay will certainly get more than they bargained for with any number of our natural attractions and unique experiences on offer.

Vanessa Amorosi will perform.

“I know a few of our most famous ‘things to do’ — like platypus spotting, sharing a sunrise with kangaroos on the beach or exploring our pristine beaches — will be popular.”

Take your camp chair, picnic blanket, snacks and esky for a great afternoon of music. It is also recommended to wear a hat and sunscreen to the event, which will run under Queensland Government’s Covid-19 public events guidelines that may include proof of vaccination.
