WE HAVEN'T seen the last of the wild weather yet, with more thunderstorms predicted for today and showers through the week.

Wild weather lashed the region over the weekend with hail, 90kmh winds and cracking thunder and lightning.

While the days were clear and sunny by Saturday afternoon, Mother Nature did enough to bring some events in the region to a standstill.

Storm in Dysart

Falls of up to 72mm of rain were recorded in the region and Mackay Airport received 39mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am yesterday.

Moranbah racetrack was forced to cancel its race meet and events at Mackay Speedway were also cancelled.

Mackay Softball women's grand final was played however, while one game was called off yesterday at the North Queensland Cricket Championships.

A Bureau of Meteorology spokeswoman said "Eungella had received 23mm of rain overnight (Saturday), and Mackay experienced substantial wind gusts of up to 90kmh".

"Those speeds are quite significant and are reaching into our 'severe' thunderstorm' threshold," the spokeswoman said.

The Bureau is also expecting the Mackay region could see more storm activity today but should ease by tomorrow and Wednesday.

Mackay Bureau of Meteorology at Mt Bassett experienced issues with their radar from about 5pm Saturday and a BOM spokeswoman confirmed that attempts to reset the radar remotely yesterday had been unsuccessful.

Up to 15mm of rain is predicted in the Mackay region today with 1-5mm predicted for tomorrow.
