A not-so-crafty drug user tried to hide his marijuana stash in his undies before boarding a plane to Mackay where he planned to smoke the rest.
But his plan was foiled when he was pulled aside for a full body search at Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal on October 13 last year.
Self represented, Alexander Peter Denis Hay pleaded guilty in Mackay Magistrates Court to possessing dangerous drugs.
Prosecutor Sheena Gravino said police were called to the airport about 5.30pm after Hay underwent a full body examination.
“A small plastic bag containing an amount of green leafy material was located … in the underwear of (Hay),” Ms Gravino said.
The court heard Hay, 26, told police the marijuana, weighing about one gram, was his.
Ms Gravino said he told officers he had bought it from someone in the city so he could smoke it, and had done so that morning.
“He intended to take the rest home back to Mackay,” Ms Gravino said.
