Freechoice Sarina is celebrating its grand opening with thousands of giveaways

A Sarina husband-and-wife duo are celebrating opening their second store this Mother’s Day with thousands of giveaways.

Miranda Roberts, who also owns Nextra Freechoice on Evans Street in Mackay, is opening a Freechoice in Sarina with husband Jason Cardona at the operations’ helm.

Mr Cardona said it was a passion of theirs to open to a retail outlet in their hometown.

He said it would stock scratchies, Golden Casket lotto tickets, the “cheapest tobacco in Queensland” plus a wide range of unique giftware never before seen in Sarina.

This included Disney Britto, Traditions and Ikon collectables along with gift lines suitable for birthday and anniversary presents and every occasion in between.

“We’re trying to make sure what we stock in the store is, ‘Oh hang on, I’ve got to go to a birthday party, I need something special’ — I’ll be able to pop in to Freechoice and save me driving for an hour-and-a-half to Mackay and back,” Mr Cardona said.

He said they prided themselves on customer service and would open the store from 11am on Sunday with a big day of festivities joined by special guest, The Candyman — the owner of the Freechoice chain.

“We’ve got Daydream Island giving away a holiday for a family of up to five, we’re going to have prizes donated by Reef Marine and Tackle World and other locally-owned businesses, free fuel vouchers plus roses and John Sands cards for Mother’s Day,” Mr Cardona said.

“There’s about 250 scratchies as well that we’re giving away.”

The mega-barrel prize will be drawn between 1.30 to 2pm and you do need to be instore to win.

“And there’s going to be a bit of a surprise on the day, weather permitting,” Mr Cardona said.

“I really think Sarina people will be impressed by the store, it’ll be the nicest retail outlet in town.”

He thanked Freechoice Australia general manager Bryn Sharp and area manager Anthony Golding for helping prepare the store and joining in on Sunday’s celebrations.

Freechoice Sarina is in Sarina Village Shopping Centre along Broad Street.
