Flash flood warning as severe storms head for Mackay region
The Mackay region and parts of the Whitsundays and Central Highlands are in line for more dangerous weather with Saturday storms likely to bring flash flooding and damaging winds.

A wild weather warning is in place for several regions just a week after the first round.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for parts of the Central Coast, Whitsundays, and Central Highlands and Coalfields regions, with damaging winds and heavy rainfall expected throughout Saturday morning.
The storm system, moving towards the Mackay coast, is forecast to bring conditions that may lead to flash flooding.
Areas most at risk include Mackay, Sarina, and Nebo.
Significant rainfall has already been recorded across the region:
Arcadia Valley: 83mm in the hour to 10:08pm Friday
Sheep Station Creek (Gemfields): 60mm in the hour to 3:30am
Capella: 91mm over three hours to 3:13am
Beckers: 65mm in the hour to 1:34am
La Palma: 63mm in the hour to 11:25pm Friday
Residents in affected areas are urged to take immediate safety precautions:
Park vehicles under cover and away from trees.
Close all windows and doors.
Keep asthma medications handy, as high winds may trigger symptoms.
Charge phones and power banks in case of power outages.
Secure pets to prevent them from getting lost.
Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary, as conditions are dangerous.
Notify friends, family, and neighbours in the affected areas.
Seek shelter in a sturdy building and remain indoors until the storm has passed.
