Flame Tree Eco Cabins to open up Pioneer Valley’s potential

A couple’s dream to bring something new and unique to the Pioneer Valley won’t stop with the villas, but include an expert-designed mountain bike track to guests’ exclusive use.

An exclusive eco cabin development in the Pioneer Valley is just the start of Ellen Everett’s dream.

Beyond the sustainably built 80sq m cabin with two matching king bedrooms each with their own ensuite set on the 80 hectare Netherdale property, Flame Tree Eco Stays will include a mountain bike trail for guests’ exclusive use.

But beyond even that, Mrs Everett and her husband Peter want to take the dream further for their Mackay Eungella Rd property.

“Pete and I are pretty big on all things eco and creating things for the better,” she said.

“We have cattle at the moment but we’re not cattle farmers, we’re regenerative farmers – we’re by default that kind of farmer.

“Peter and I have nearly 200 acres out here. We’re just looking at diversifying so that it is sustainable for our kids and their kids and their kids.”

It was with that, and a successful Air BnB home in Ball Bay the idea for Flame Tree Eco Stays was born, along with Mr Everett’s enthusiasm for extreme sports.

Mrs Everett said her husband was a keen snowboarder, motocross rider and mountain biker so when it came to designing their new enterprise, incorporating a track for future guests to use was logical.

“Part of our guest stay experience for our villas will be that we are putting in our own small mountain biking tracks,” she said.

“We had an Australian come out and have a look at our site and we’re getting a track designed that will be for the exclusive use of our guests.”

While not the primary objective, Mrs Everett said it would tie in with the wider plans for the Pioneer Valley area.

The couple was approved for two villas but plan to build just one at first.

It will be perched on the top of the mountain to take in the scenic views of the surrounding areas.

“It will be about the $350 to $400 price range but you get what you pay for,” she said.

“We will also be incorporating heaps of local products as well – the sauces and the condiments will all be made by local businesses.”

Mackay Regional Council has approved the development, and the couple hope to have Flame Tree Eco Cabins open for winter 2023.
