A small chemical leak has been attended by fireys in a light industrial area.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said two fire trucks were called to the spill on John Vella Drive in Paget at 6.50am.

“Looks like there’s a small chemical leak there so we are working to contain the spill,” she said.

The response team was “liaising with our scientific team” to identify the chemical.

The spokeswoman said the chemical had been identified as hypochlorite solution, commonly known as bleach.

“They’re planning to decant it, empty the container into another container,” she said.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman confirmed there were no injuries reported but an ambulance was on standby in Paget.
