Emergency crews called to traffic crash on Peak Downs Highway at Coppabella
A woman was trapped in her car and had to be cut free as multiple emergency crews are on scene at a traffic crash that has closed a busy highway west of Mackay.

A woman trapped in her car had to be cut free after a multi-vehicle crash that blocked a busy highway in both directions west of Mackay.
The collision involving four vehicles occurred just after 6pm Tuesday on the Peak Downs Highway at Coppabella.
Four fire crews, police and paramedics are on scene and the BMA CQ Rescue helicopter has been called.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said crews were called to a four-vehicle crash and that one person was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Fire crews had to use hydraulic equipment to remove one of the doors so she could be pulled from the wreck.
Paramedics are assessing her and at this stage her injuries are unknown.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said there were multiple patients.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said up to four vehicles were involved in the crash and the driver of one of the vehicles, the woman, would be taken to hospital.
Both lanes of the highway are shut and will remain closed while the rescue chopper lands to retrieve the woman. She will be taken to Mackay Base Hospital.
