Emergency crews called to serious crash on Fitzroy Development Rd at Valkyrie
A woman who was trapped by her steering wheel had to be cut from her vehicle after crashing into a tree in slippery conditions in an known mobile black spot near Mackay.

A critically injured driver had to be cut from her vehicle after it crashed into a tree on a remote rural road in a known mobile black spot at Valkyrie, just southwest of Mackay.
She had been travelling on the Fitzroy Development Rd when the crash happened about 11.20am Wednesday.
It is understood she suffered horror injuries to her arms and was trapped by the steering wheel after her vehicle hit a tree.
Emergency crews including police, paramedics, Queensland Fire Department, SES and the BMA CQ Rescue chopper were called to the scene.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a woman in her 40s was in a life-threatening condition with significant injuries to her arms.
She had been trapped in the vehicle by her legs, he said.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said one fire crew as well as SES were on scene with the fire crew needing to help remove the woman from the wrecked vehicle.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said conditions were extremely slippery due to rain and crews had to be particularly careful.
She added that the woman was extracted from the vehicle just before 1pm and the scene was cleared by 3pm.
Once she was removed paramedics immediately started assessing and treating her injuries before she was placed on the rescue chopper to be flown to Mackay Base Hospital.
The BMA CQ Rescue helicopter had to fly around in unpredictable weather to land at the scene of the crash.
The critically injured woman was flown to hospital.
