Eight people involved in three car pile-up in Cannon Valley

Up to eight people have been involved in a three vehicle pile-up on a main road in the Whitsunday region.

Between six and eight people were involved in a three car accident after a backpacker’s van and small car collided off a main road intersection.

Paramedics were called to the Gregory Cannon Valley Rd and Shute Harbour Rd intersection about 1.20pm on Friday after reports of a three vehicle crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a man in his 20s suffered seatbelt injuries, a woman in her 20s suffered abdominal pain and another man in his 20s suffered abdominal injuries as well.

All three were taken to Proserpine Hospital in a stable condition while the other five people refused transport.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said six people were involved in the accident.

She said one person in a car suffered minor injuries and the other people got out of the vehicles themselves.

Police were conducting traffic control before all lanes were reopened at 2.09pm.
