Disturbing cattle deaths: Aliens or just an udder mystery?

A SERIES of disturbing incidents of cows being found without their organs and "strange lights in the sky” over their farm has left Eungella farmers puzzled.

A SERIES of disturbing incidents of cows being found without their organs and "strange lights in the sky” over their farm has left Eungella farmers wondering if there really is something more out there.

Cloverley Station graziers Mick and Judy Cook say five of their cows have been found mutilated, their tongues, udders and eyes removed with bloodless wounds since the beginning of June.

The baffled cattle owners, who before these strange incidences began occurring a decade ago never believed in the supernatural, are starting to think it could be something other than human.

"We have absolutely no explanation for it, seriously I think it could be something of the extra-terrestrial nature because we've also seen these really strange lights in the sky around our property,” Mr Cook told the Daily Mercury at their property west of Eungella this week.

"One night there was a light was in the distance, very bright, we couldn't tell how close it was,” he said.

"It looked like it was just on the boundary of the property where I had found a mob of cattle out that way the next day who looked terrorised and they started running as soon as I got close to them which was very strange.”

UFO Research Queensland president Sheryl Gottschall said there had been numerous cases of the same nature around Australia but there had not been an incidence of cattle mutilation in Queensland for quite some time.

"A man had travelled to the Cape York Peninsula looking for aircraft parts from World War II and he came across a mutilated bull and two calves which had its eyes, stomach bag, testicles as well as the backside removed,” she said.

"Cattle mutilations have been linked with extraterrestrial activity since the 1970s and has been fuelled by the absence of a logical explanation for the mutilations, many cases are linked with the appearances of lights,”.

Cattle mutilations in the United States were subject to an FBI Investigation in the 1979 where it was found that mutilations were the result of natural predation, however there were anomalies in most cases that could not be accounted for.

The FBI's inability to come to a conclusive finding has caused many people to believe there is a larger plot occurring involving government intervention or even the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Mr Cook noticed at the beginning of June that there was a carcass of a cow with unusual wounds at his Eungella station.

"...once I had a closer look I noticed that the udders, tongue and eyes had appeared to be surgically removed,” Mr Cook said.

"The wounds were very unusual because they were bloodless and very precise, a knife wouldn't have had that level of accuracy.”

On that same day, Mr Cook continued to travel through his property before he found another carcass of a cow on the ground.

"It was on that same trip where I had found another one, this time it looked a little bit more decomposed, but it had the same characteristics of the one I had just seen a couple hours beforehand,” he said.

Over the next three months, the mystifying cattle deaths keep happening, and the disturbed couple have been left completely perplexed.

"We have found four other cows - one at the front of our property, two in separate paddocks out the back and the latest one occurred a fortnight ago when Mick was down by the river where he saw this cow which had its udder completely removed once again,” Mrs Cook said.

The couple decided to alert family and were shocked to find they weren't an isolated case, that similar incidents had been reported for more than 50 years across the world.

"Our daughter who was up from New South Wales sent us some information about similar incidents occurring down there a couple of decades ago and we were shocked to hear that this had been occurring ... with no explanation at all,” Mrs Cook said.

"It really makes you think that there's something going on that the general public doesn't know about, maybe there's something being kept hidden from us.”

Northern Beaches veterinarian David Lemmon, who deals with a range of different livestock species, says he has never seen anything like it.

"I have been working in the industry for about 40 years, and during my time as a veterinarian I have never seen or heard anything of this nature before, it truly is a perplexing mystery,” Dr Lemmon said.

"I've seen some animal cruelty mutilations conducted by humans especially with dogs and cats but the situation out at Eungella is beyond my experience. For someone to take specific organs out of a cow and leave the wound bloodless it's just mystifying.”

Strange cattle behaviour has also plagued the property and according to Mr Cook there was one night where several cattle broke through a number of fences throughout the station having been spooked by something.

"There was one night in June where we had just put our weaners in a paddock next to our house and there was a big noise and I wondered what the heck had happened, I went outside and I found a fence that had been completely taken out,” he said.

"All the weaners were just going everywhere and I had actually found that there was more than just one fence taken out, there was a gate that was also taken out.”

The graziers said they had been unsuccessful in their attempts to notify Queensland Police about the issue, with the police confirming there had been no similar reports.
