THE mystery of what happened to Shandee Blackburn has haunted the Mackay community since she was violently killed by a cbd roadside more than seven years ago.
But on Friday Central Queensland Coroner David O'Connell will hand down his finding into the 23 year old's death after more than 12 months following a two-week inquest last year.
The pretty hospitality worker had been walking home after a shift at Harrup Park Country Club on February 9, 2013 when she was stabbed up to 25 times and left to die in a gutter on Boddington St just after midnight.
Her death sparked fear and outrage across the community and promoted a number of safety initiatives.

But an answer to the question of what happened the night she died has remained largely unanswered.
In 2014 her former boyfriend John Peros was arrested over her murder and in 2016 he was acquitted of the charge by a Mackay Supreme Court jury. At all times he has denied any involvement in her death.
He was among 50 witnesses called to give evidence at the coronial inquest held in Mackay over 11 days in July last year.
And the case for the central coroner is voluminous.
There were more than 700 exhibits including statements, recorded interviews, CCTV footage, photos, diagrams and maps.

However the evidence heard in court only focused on key areas including:
• CCTV footage of a vehicle in the area the night she died and its striking resemblance to Mr Peros' Toyota Hilux.
• The rumours about various people linked to Shandee's death.
• A figure captured on CCTV hiding in the bushes before sprinting what appears to be towards Boddington St at the time she was killed.
The findings will be handed down on Friday afternoon.
