Armed with only a ukulele and her voice Walkerston’s Tiffany Grace Vella is stepping into some big boots these school holidays.

Ms Vella has been selected to attend the prestigious Junior Academy of Country Music in Tamworth led by multi-Golden Guitar winners Lyn Bowtell and Roger Corbett.

The program aims to support careers of up-and-coming performers throughout Australia.

Ms Vella said while she played a variety of genres, her passions were country and pop music.

“I love music so much,” she said.

“I’m hoping to one day make a career out of it.”

Students will work with established industry professionals during the program to learn about the music business and co-write songs together.

Director Lyn Bowtell said she could not wait to see the growth of the students and be able to work in a face-to-face capacity after the program was cancelled because of Covid-19 last year.

The course will run from Saturday June 26 to Friday July 2.
