A slick production with incredible comedic timing amid stellar dance moves, The Tap Pack delivered plenty of punch to a packed crowd in Mackay.

The high energy tap comedy had the girls swooning and young boys dreaming of a career on the stage.

Looking the part in their dapper suits and swanky tap shoes, the dancers spoke about the napkin where they mapped out their journey to the stage during a night out.

The five Aussie blokes danced, joked and pulled out a few tricks to get the audience involved.

But they also sang a range of classics and modern numbers – with sing-offs and dance-offs a hit with the audience.

The only thing missing from the packed line-up of humour and talent was a recreation of the couch scene from Good Morning in Singing in the Rain!

Ashley Tandridge-Scott, 7, said he loved all the tapping and the Michael Buble songs during the Tap Pack performance at the MECC on Saturday night.

Wearing his own tap shoes to the show, he said he had been dancing for about a year and tap dancing was about making “your legs go mad”.

When asked what he liked about dancing, he said: “Everything”.

His mother Sharon Tandridge, from Andergrove, said the performance was just what she was hoping for.

“Lots of noise, some songs we love and some talented men doing what they love,” she said.

Marian’s Andrea Morrow said she too loved the dancing but her friend Rachel Lunt particularly loved all the classic songs from the Frank Sinatra era.

Melinda Hamelink, also from Marian, said she liked the humour in the show interspersed with the dancing while Vikki Brownsey, from Mackay, liked the mixture of classic and modern.

Jayne Coward, from Slade Point, gave an emphatic endorsement.

“Absolutely fantastic, love it, love it, love it,” she said.

Carol Miles, from Rural View, and Gail Caruana, of West Mackay, loved the energy, variety and fun the five performers brought to the stage.

Danielle Jesser, from Habana, went with her daughter Julia, both getting in on the audience participation in setting the beat for the tappers.

“It’s good to see so much energy on the stage and to see a full house for a live act in Mackay again,” Mrs Jesser said.

“After all the troubles we’ve been through with Covid, it’s just good to see everybody come out.”
