Mackay CBD arrest after a man was found with a fake gun outside kebab shop

UPDATE 2.30PM: A number of reported incidents across the Mackay region have kept police busy.
Reports of a man with a gun in the CBD had police swarm on Wood St about 1.45pm.
A police spokeswoman said the gun was found to be fake but the man was quickly arrested outside a kebab shop.
The spokeswoman said police believed the man had arrived in the area on a pushbike.
The incident came shortly after reports a firearm was waved at members of the public earlier today.
It was first reported from West Mackay where two people in a white Ford Falcon were seen creating a disturbance about 11.15am
The incident triggered a heavy police response with crews swarming Mackay’s streets to locate the car.
The vehicle, with two men inside wearing hoodies and one with a red hat were seen driving south on the Bruce Highway about 11.50am.
Police were then called to a reported attempted car theft from a driveway in Mount Pleasant about 1pm.
A person, reported to have their face covered and wearing a light coloured hoodie, is believed to have fled the area, crossed the Bruce Highway and run into the Greenfields Shopping Centre.
Police swarmed the area but the person was not found. More patrols were conducted through the Mount Pleasant area but the person was not found.
Patrols are continuing.
INITIAL 12.30PM: Police have swarmed on Mackay’s industrial area after unconfirmed reports of a firearm was waved at members of the public.
The incident was first reported from West Mackay where two people in a white Ford Falcon were seen creating a disturbance about 11.15am.
The initial report was a weapon was involved.
It triggered a heavy police response with several crews patrolling the area, tracking the vehicle along Bridge Rd and Nebo Rd about 11.30am.
A police spokesman said reports a firearm was involved were yet to be confirmed.
The vehicle, with two men inside wearing hoodies and one with a red hat, was later seen on Archibald St near Bunnings in the Paget area.
Initial reports are the occupants of the vehicle could have a weapon but police are yet to find the car.
It is believed the vehicle has fled south along the Bruce Highway.
