Mackay’s Kucom Theatre will put on 5 Women Wearing the Same Dress, Theatre Sports and new auditions

Whether you prefer your bum on a seat or you want to get up on stage, there is something for everyone at Kucom Theatre this July.

Open the curtains and roll up, roll up because the Kucom Theatre is waiting for your visit.

Whether you prefer your bum on a seat or are thinking about giving the stage a try, Mackay’s community theatre group has something for everyone this July.

Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

Alan Ball’s dark comedy is brought back to life for the opening fringe event for the Mackay Festival of Arts.

The show follows the tale of five very different bridesmaids who find themselves hiding together in the upstairs bedroom in an attempt to escape the wedding reception.

The bridesmaids realise they have at least one thing in common, none of them really like the bride.

The performances will take place at 7.30pm on July 15 to July 17, and again on July 22 to July 24 at the Kucom Theatre in Andergrove.

Theatre Sports

For those wanting to get out of the audience and onto the stage, Kucom Theatre is opening up the first session of Theatre Sports.

The training session will incorporate group games at the Bruce Shepherd Auditorium on July 30.

Anyone 16 years or older is invited to go along and be part of the project.

When the Rain Stops Falling auditions

The final 2021 production for Kucom Theatre will be a rendition of Andrew Bovell’s When the Rain Stops Falling.

Audition packs are now available for anyone interested in vying for a spot on stage.

Victor Scott will direct the production.

Auditions will be held on July 31 from 10am.
