Mackay has ranked as the third highest city for infidelity in Australia, Ashley Madison says

Cheater alert! New data reveals Mackay is in the country’s top three cities for infidelity in the past year.

Watch out, there are cheaters about.

New data from the married dating website Ashley Madison has revealed Mackay is ranked as the third highest city for cheating in Australia.

That’s a jump from seventh place in 2020, suggesting a possible increase in the region’s appetite for infidelity.

Ashley Madison spokeswoman Jane Stabler said despite lockdowns, affairs continued to be rife in the past 12 months.

“Even ongoing lockdowns can’t stop people from seeking out someone other than their partner,” Ms Stabler said.

“The state of Queensland has contributed a whole nine of the top 20 cities for infidelity in Australia.”

The data suggested cities that experienced warmer weather year round “housed more cheaters”,

She said it gave weight to the adage “summer is for being single”, even if it was not actually winter and people weren’t actually single.

While Mackay has definitely been called out, it did not fare quite as bad as its sister city to the south.

Rockhampton came in as the number one city for infidelity in Australia, jumping a whole nine places since 2020.
