Halloween Colouring Competition
When: Winner announced Tuesday October 31
Where: Active Physiotherapy Mackay
What’s happening: 3/34 Gregory St, Mackay
If your child loves colouring in, they could win a “nice big jar of candy” with Active Physiotherapist’ Halloween-themed competition.
Pick up your entry from their front reception desk.
Emoween
When: Starts 8.30pm, Friday October 20
Where: Arcadia Bar Mackay, 9 Gregory St, Mackay
What’s happening: It is an emo-themed night with a dark twist with partygoers asked to channel their inner demons and Rob Zombies “for the most ghastly night of the year”.
Dress code is HallowScene with the best dressed to win a $200 voucher.
The event features deathly decor, free emo blood makeover booth, Rawr horror visuals, free scary fairy floss and a haunted photo shoot and there are themed drinks including Scream Sour, Frankenstein Fizz and Graveyard Guzzle.
Adults-only event, and photo ID is required.

‘Little Pumpkins’ Trick-or-Treat Tours
When: 4 to 5.30pm, Thursday October 26
Where: Whitsunday Plaza, Galbraith Park Rd, Cannonvale
What’s happening: Sergeant Billy Li and friendly PCYC police officers are hosting tours for Little Pumpkins so they can trick-or-treat in a safe, controlled and “spectacular” environment.
Each group will have a maximum of 30 children who will be led around the centre.
The cost is one gold coin per child with the event to start in front of Woolworths.

Haunted House Party
When: Starts 7pm, Saturday October 28
Where: Ambassador Hotel, Sydney St, Mackay
What’s happening: Bartenders will be “conjuring up speciality cocktails and shots to tantalise your tastebuds and calm your jangled nerves” at the “eerie abyss” of the transformed bar “where shadows dance and ghostly apparitions” await you.
“Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our creepy concierge with a sinisterly delicious Zombie Brain Shot that’ll fortify your courage as you prepare to transverse the haunting depths” of the haunted house.
The event is for adults only with prizes for the most frightful and imaginative costumes.
General admission is $15 with a free, exclusive booth upgrade for the first five groups to secure tickets.

Ravenswood Halloween Ball
When: Starts 6pm, Saturday October 28
Where: School of Arts Hall, 102 Macrossan St, Ravenswood
What’s happening: Embrace the Halloween spirit and don your most frightening and creative costumes for a night of “thrilling music, delicious treats, and bewitching decorations”.
There will be a costume party, live band, food and drinks available for purchase, prizes for best dressed for all ages, individuals and groups, children’s entertainment and family fun.
It is a cash only event.
Tickets are $10 via Eventbrite with food and drink available to be purchased on the night.
There is also nearby accommodation available including camping at Ravenswood Showgrounds, at Top Camp, Railway Hotel, and Imperial Hotel.

Nightmare 7 – House of Horrors
When: 6 to 9pm Saturday October 28, 5 to 7pm Sunday October 29, 5 to 7pm Monday October 30, 4 to 10pm October 31
Where: 6 Patton St, South Mackay
What’s happening: The public is invited to get a fright at this haunted house with 25 themed rooms “starting with a fog breathing dragon at the entrance”.
The displays also feature animatronics all the way from the USA.
The open day on Saturday, October 28 promises “jump scares”. For the little ones, the “least scary day” is Monday, October 30.
And on Halloween, October 31, there will be treats available from 4pm and jump scares from 6 to 10pm.
Parental guidance is required for persons 12 or under.
There will be poor visibility, strobing lights, uneven ground, and loud noises.
Family Halloween Party
When: From 5.30pm, Saturday October 28
Where: Souths Leagues Club, Milton St, Mackay
What’s happening: Souths is putting on various Halloween-themed fun activities including kids trick or treat at 5.30pm, 5.45pm and 6pm. Cost is $5 which includes a treat bag to decorate. Bookings are essential via the club’s website.
There is free face painting, a jumping castle and kids monster mash from 6pm.
And from 6pm to 10pm, The Feels is providing live music.
There is also a best dressed Halloween competition with visitors able to vote for their favourite staff member.
Haunted House
When: Monday October 30 and Tuesday October 31
Where: 67 Peak Downs Highway, Ooralea
What’s happening: Check out a haunted house with a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to Mackay Animal Rescue.
There is also fairy floss available for $1.50 and slushies for $2.50. EFTPOS is available.
Dead Men Tell No Tales
When: 6 to 10pm, Tuesday October 31
Where: 39 Sheedy Crescent, Marian
What’s happening: Each year these homeowners put on a spectacular Halloween display with this year’s inspired by pirates.
Go along to meet Captain Jack Sparrow. If it rains on the night, the event will be rescheduled.

Halloween Carnevil Trick or Treat
When: 3.30 to 6pm, Tuesday October 31
Where: Mount Pleasant Centre, Mackay Bucasia Rd, Mount Pleasant
What’s happening: Dress up, take your stamp card and trick and treat “with a twist” through the shopping centre with Let's Face It Entertainment and The Mackay Hospital Foundation making it a “Halloween to remember”.
Trick or Treat with a Twist will have your “costumed little monsters” go on a scavenger hunt through various participating stores where they can earn trick or treat stamps to get a bag of goodies.
Kids can also make a trick or treat bucket to take home with Spooky Craft.
Finally, there is free face painting but it is a case of first in, best dressed.

Halloween Pirate Party
When: Starts 6.30pm, Tuesday, October 31
Where: Sarina Sugar Shed, Field of Dreams Parklands, Railway Square, Sarina (off the Bruce Highway)
What’s happening: The Sugar Shed is hosting a children-family event for trick or treating.
There will be puppet story-time, “lots of yummy ghoulish morsels in the cafe (licensed offering for ghosts” and you can fill your pirate passport with a treasure hunt that starts every 15 minutes with a chance to win a “choco-ful” hamper.
Entry to the event is free. A pirate passport costs $12 a ticket.

Halloween Disco

Where: Mackay Gymnastics, 5 Snow Wright Crt, Andergrove
What’s happening: Mackay Gymnastics is hosting its annual Halloween Disco.
Dress up in your best Halloween costume for a “fun-filled night of games and music”.
