A trio who became stranded in a rising tide sent an SOS message before communication cut out.
Emergency crews including police officers and firefighters rushed to their last known location at Bakers Creek, just south of Mackay, shortly after noon.
The three men had reportedly been walking along the sandbank at low tide before the rising tide had them trapped and they were unable to find a safe passage out.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officer Scott Campbell said “they sent out their location via the mobile phone”.
Bakers Creek is a known hotspot for crocodiles.
Specialist water police were called to help with the three men located about 1.30pm.
They will be taken to Hay Point.
Another boat which had entered the water to help find the men had engine issues with those on board forced to paddle back to shore.
