Queens Park is lighting up with swirls of twinkling colour and softly lit works of art.
It is all for the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Illuminate 2022 event, which began Thursday night and continues until Sunday, as part of the Mackay Festival of Arts.
A large crowd descended into the park as the sun fell at 6pm.
Children and adults alike expressed amazement and delight at the transformed park.
For artists Tracey Johnson and Wanda Bennett, it has been six weeks of dedicated work with the community to deliver the spectacle.
“We worked with school groups and a community group this year and then we ran a series of free drop-in all-ages workshops,” Mrs Bennett said.
Artists Donna Maree Robinson, Lalune Croker, Cheb Jeffrey and Lisa Roebig Holmes were also instrumental in preparing the park for its three nights of illumination.
The Pearce-Dalrymple family said the results were “amazing”, with the dog park a big hit.
“It has just got so many cool different lights,” Sybella said.
