AM Lash & Beauty wins Mackay’s Best Lash Technician 2024
The people have spoken in the Daily Mercury’s competition for Mackay’s Best Lash Technician, with three medallists rising above the rest.

Mackay’s best lash technician of 2024 has been crowned, but the Daily Mercury’s competition isn’t the only accolade she’s garnered recently.
AM Lash & Beauty took out top gong with 27 votes, while silver and bronze medallists Venus Lashes and Hush Lash made it on to the podium with 24 and 17 votes respectively.
First place: AM Lash & Beauty
Owner Amber McArthur said winning the competition was an “exciting experience” and thanked the people who voted for AM Lash & Beauty.
“My clients are my everything and why I do what I do everyday, most of them have been with me from the very beginning and have become like family to me,” Ms McArthur said.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today and gotten to do what I absolutely love if it wasn’t for them, I truly adore and love them all.”
A mother of two, Ms McArthur ran a salon in the Mackay CBD for six years before building up a full salon at home and continuing to hone her skills in that time.
So far it’s been a winning year for AM Lash & Beauty, which placed in the Top 3 beauty therapists in the country at the Australian Wedding Industry Awards 2024.
Ms McArthur has previously won Bride’s Choice awards as well as worked up from a Top 5 placement for beauty therapists in 2023.
“We have some extremely talented lash techs here in Mackay, in my opinion we have some of the best in Australia.”
Second place: Venus Lashes
Venus Lashes owner Emily Gibson said it was “so cool” to rank among Mackay’s best lash technicians.
She has run Venus Lashes out of her home for about three years now and has consistently good reviews.
One review on her Facebook by a client described it as “one of the best experiences I have had getting my lashes done”.
Third place: Hush Lash
Hush Lash is run by Rebecca out of her salon on Harbour Rd with a range of beauty treatments available.
The salon won Best Lash Tech in 2023 but clearly the quality has not slipped in that time with a strong client base who voted.
Hush Lash also offers training in lash application to encourage the next generation of beauty therapists.
“My secret is to keep educating myself in all the new trends, skills, techniques that lash industry has to offer,” she said last year.
