Kacey was just two when she was diagnosed with high-risk B cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Now, she has become an ambassador for the hospital helping treat her.
Mackay Hospital Foundation’s Giving Day, on Thursday October 13, was adopted in 2021 as a fundraiser for health projects and equipment, encouraging the community to “give a little, to help a lot”.
She is joined by another young ambassador, Cade, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at just four years old.
Giving Day takes place from 8am to 8pm on Thursday, but donations are welcome at any time via the QR code in the event’s poster.
Prior to the first Giving Day last year, the Foundation raised money by reaching “out to people within our community - friends, family, and colleagues, to make donations in support of our local hospitals.”
The Foundation describes its goal as sourcing “funding and support for projects and equipment (while) also supporting the dedicated staff who provide medical care to patients throughout (Mackay)”.
