A former deputy mayor of Mackay has been named chairman of the Mackay Hospital and Health Board.
Along with his council background, Darryl Camilleri will step into the role with a financial credentials having formerly owned Bennett Partners Chartered Accountants.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said Mr Camilleri would make an excellent chairman having recently served in the role.
“(He) has (also) served as chair for a host of community and industry organisations,” Mrs D’Ath said.
Corporate executive Annabel Dolphin and physiotherapist Tom McMillan will also join the board as new members.
“Both are civic-minded professionals with a genuine interest in representing the interests of Mackay residents,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“Ms Dolphin has an extensive background as company director and a business consultant specialising in human resources, business advisory and corporate governance.
“Mr McMillan is a director of PhysioPlus in Mackay and the vice-president of the Australian College of Physiotherapists.
“Clearly his health background will be valuable to the board.
“We’re very fortunate to have such experienced and dedicated professionals on the Mackay Hospital and Health Board.
“I know that they will work hard to ensure the region’s residents continue to receive excellent health services.”

The remaining six board members include McKays Solicitors director Suzanne Brown, James Cook University Professor Richard Murray, pharmacist David Aprile, chartered accountant Helen Caruso, MARABISDA manager Adrienne Barnett and South Side Medical GP Dr Elissa Hatherly.
The Mackay Hospital and Health Board is one of 16 boards across Queensland responsible for regional health service delivery and performance within communities.
