The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce is forging ahead with a plan to understand where to focus resources and investment to make Mackay a sought after and desirable place to live, work and play.
This has culminated in the City Centre ‘Think Tank’ workshop on May 28.
MRCOC subcommittee chair Scott Jamieson said the workshop would “not be a gab fest”.
“It’s not about throwing up ideas. It’s not all skittles and rainbows,” Mr Jamieson said.
“A lot of work is getting done prior and it’s going to be very outcome driven.”
The workshop will develop three to five priority actions to shape the future of Mackay’s City Centre.
“We want to be in a position where we can take advantage of new industries and technology that’s coming into play,” Mr Jamieson said.
“It’s really about enhancing what our competitive edge is in Mackay.”
John Aitken and Peter Ffrench will facilitate the event with a wide range of community leaders and stakeholders participating.
National Retailers Association chief executive Dominique Lamb will present the event.
The key outcomes from the four-hour workshop will be released via a comprehensive event report.
