A MACKAY man who stole two cars, evaded police and dangerously operated a vehicle has confessed to his crimes from prison.

Matthew Lee Ireland, 22, fronted Mackay Magistrates Court from prison via videolink on Tuesday, unrepresented by a lawyer.

Ireland entered a home and took keys and subsequently a car, stole a second car, stole a key, dangerously operated a vehicle and failed to stop for police; between July 12 and 19 this year.

Ireland, who's waiting to see if a Legal Aid application is successful, told Magistrate Damien Dwyer he pleaded guilty

"I'll plead guilty to them now, Ireland told the magistrate.

Mr Dwyer advised "I wouldn't do that without seeing a lawyer, if I was you Mr Ireland”.

"You really need a lawyer to talk to you,” he added.

Ireland dismissed the magistrates' warning and said he still wished to enter guilty pleas.

Mr Dwyer adjourned the case until December 5.

Ireland will be produced to face court in person on the day.
