A lone traveller has had a lucky escape after her car ploughed through a barbed-wire fence and flipped onto its roof in a paddock north of Mackay.
The crash occurred at an area just short of the overtaking lanes at Mount Ossa north of Kuttabul, with the white four-door vehicle coming to rest about 10m off the highway.
Officer in Charge Sergeant James Brenton said paramedics were treating the 51-year-old female driver in the scene after she was transported to the ambulance wearing a neck brace.
Sergeant Brenton said she would be taken to Mackay Base Hospital for further treatment.
He said the woman had been travelling south on the Bruce Highway when her car veered across both lanes of the highway, managing to avoid oncoming traffic.
Sergeant Brenton said a good Samaritan stopped to help the driver who was trapped inside her car.
A nearby farmer also pitched in, driving to the site to help first responders.
Tufts of grass are wedged in the wheels and lights of the upturned vehicle, and it is understood a small dog was in the vehicle at the time.
Two ambulance crews, a fire truck and several police crews were at the scene.
