Zambrero opens Mackay drive-through in Rural View

After bringing Zambrero to Mackay nine years ago, franchise partners Peter and Deb Quinn are now opening their third store complete with a children’s playground.

Nine years after opening the first Zambrero in Mackay, the Mexican fast food franchise has arrived at the Northern Beaches. 

Peter and Deb Quinn are opening their first drive through in Rural View just off Mackay Bucasia Rd.

Like Zambrero’s founder Sam Prince, the Quinns are passionate about making good food and supporting their community.

“We sponsor Wanderers Juniors, we’ve got Norths Juniors … Brothers Seniors … Carlton Seniors,” Mr Quinn said.

“We’ve sponsored the Cutters (and) Meteors in the past.

“We are a family business.

“We’ve got two young kids (and) Deb was pregnant with Elsie when we did Canelands.”

Zambrero Mexican fast food is coming to Rural View.

The Quinns developed their first outlet at Caneland Central in 2013 which was followed with their Gordon St store in 2014.

Yet a north side store has been in the works for six years as proposed locations fell through.

Now a brand new drive-through will open on Tuesday, December 6, complete with a children’s playground.

This next step will also showcase the Quinn’s commitment to community.

A more than 2m live counter on the wall shows the number of meals provided for those in need by Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative.

“Every time you buy a burrito or bowl in any of our stores, we donate a plate of food,” Mr Quinn said.

“People can sit here and that ticks over one by one by one.

“I went to the communities in Johannesburg, South Africa, and helped cook the meals to feed the kids.

“It was pretty special.”
