The wedding was planned a year in advance, but at the last minute the photographer pulled out.
It’s enough to send chills down any bride’s spines.
But that was exactly what happened to Casey Munchow’s client.
Mrs Munchow said a desperate bride contacted her, fearing her big day would go undocumented when the booked photographer pulled out just three weeks before the wedding.
While three weeks may seem like plenty of notice, Mrs Munchow said in wedding time it was cutting it fine.
She said with so many elements that made up a wedding, trying to find and co-ordinate florists, caterers, photographers, celebrants and all the rest could be challenging at the best of times.
Fortunately Mrs Munchow and her husband Josh were able to step in to help the desperate bride on her wedding day, but Mrs Munchow said she witnessed this panic all too often with brides and grooms-to-be.
“We see the posts on all the different Facebook groups of people trying to find professionals and make last-minute bookings because people just don’t know where else to go,” Mrs Munchow said.
“Facebook is great but it can be hard to find what you’re looking for.”
Mrs Munchow said watching the chaos unfold time and time again was the “spark” behind her new business venture.
The couple created and launched their website SeeLoveBook.com, designed to work as a noticeboard to connect wedding parties and professionals in the Mackay Whitsunday region.
In essence, businesses advertise on the site to make it a “one-stop shop” for wedding organisers.
Mrs Munchow said while it was mainly for locals, the industry in the region was “huge” with more than 500 weddings a year on Hamilton Island alone.
But she said the first step was getting the community on board.
The couple is offering a free trial for businesses until October, where the price will increase to a fixed $20 a month.
“It can also work for other events like Christmas and work parties,” Mrs Munchow said.
“We have so many incredible businesses in the area that this can give a platform to.
“It’s so easy to list a business, the forms are online and it creates a business page for them.”
