A Mackay hi-tech superstar has taken out a top gong at the Premier of Queensland Export Awards, beating out three other Brisbane-based businesses.
Real Time Instruments, a manufacturing business headquartered at Mackay Harbour, beat out competitors to win in the Resources and Energy category, an achievement CEO Jason Fisher credits to his “incredible team”.
“Our research and development, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and our capacity to deliver creative and agile solutions to our customers the world over is a testament to the dedication, brilliance, and passion of that team,” he said.
“We are incredibly proud of the world-class technology and advanced manufacturing practices RTI has developed over the years.”
RTI manufactures elemental and moisture analysers for mining companies, which use the products to determine the quality and make-up of bulk material.
Its n-Gen analyser, the first in the world to use long-life neutron-generator source to analyse elemental composition instead of the traditional PGNAA technology, went into the Bowen Basin in July.
Alongside Central Queensland, the company boasts installations in South America, Africa, India and China.
RTI’s technology is also used by power generation companies across the Asia Pacific to monitor and control the quality of coal input.
More than 1200 RTI analysers are on sites across the world.
The awards, run by Trade and Investment Queensland, celebrated export business across a range of categories, including international health, professional services, e-commerce, agribusiness, creative industries and resources and energy.
The judging panel included gurus such as Australian Industry Group CEO Rebecca Andrews, Queensland Treasury Corporation executive director Clayton Daly and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland CEO Heidi Cooper.
In the resources and energy section, RTI competed alongside Brisbane’s Applied Mining Technologies, Redflow and Sun Engineering.
