THE new multimillion-dollar Coles supermarket and shopping centre at Andergrove is expected to open by late 2021.
The supermarket will also feature a Liquorland, outdoor dining precinct and nine specialty retail stores.
We asked North Mackay residents what retailers they want in the new centre and received more than 100 replies on Facebook.
The discount supermarket Aldi was the standout favourite, but residents also called for Subway, Krispy Kreme, and Guzman y Gomez at the Andergrove precinct.
The retailers North Mackay wants to see open up:
Kayleen Matsen: Aldi
Brendan Brooks: No, if you want an Aldi it has to be a bigger site. The current one in Rocky (sic) is so small it's sh*t … the bigger it is the better the savings
Megan Riant: Aldi would be super
Shannon Hedrick: Already enough cheap imported crap on the shelves
Megan Riant: Shannon Hedrick clearly not experienced the magic of Aldi centre aisle
Teresa Rettke: More Australian made goods in Aldi. As previously pointed out you are not familiar with shopping there.

Georgia Rogers: Yep, they bought that land when I was at Macca's
Terri-Lee Reedman: I had my fingers crossed we would get a Macca's in Andergrove. They will be so busy because there isn't really any drive-through food places in Andergrove
