A young father who has barely tipped his toes in Mackay has just opened his fifth clinic, a remarkable feat at just 28 years old.
After growing up in the countryside in South Australia, George Hannaford made the move to Mackay to complete his studies in chiropractic science.
Dr Hannaford said he was injured while playing junior football and it was his successful injury rehabilitation that steered him towards his career choice.
“I couldn’t move properly after one of my games and it affected my footy a lot,” Dr Hannaford said.
“I saw all types of doctors and physios but it wasn’t until I saw a chiropractor that I got back to my best footy.”
He went on to open his first clinic in Bucasia called the Northern Beaches Spine Care, and soon after launched clinics across the Isaac region in Moranbah, Dysart and Middlemount.
His latest, in the Mackay CBD, opened on Monday, January 30.
The chiropractors use X-rays to closer examine the skeletal system and offer personalised care.
Dr Hannaford said he met his wife Amanda on the Sunshine Coast and the pair travelled the country before choosing to settle in Mackay where they are raising their two children.
“I love it – the palm trees, the sunshine and the easy lifestyle,” Dr Hannaford said.
The business owner and former athlete said he likes being hands-on in the clinics with no plans to slow down anytime soon, saying his biggest motivator was the impact his work could have on his clients.
“I felt I had to run the business and be a leader,” Dr Hannaford said.
“My love is seeing all ages come in and all ages actually benefit.
“If you haven't seen a chiropractor I highly recommend trying it, you have nothing to lose.”
When he’s not in the clinics, you can spot Dr Hannaford on the footy field as he returns to the East Mackay Swans in the QAFL after welcoming the birth of his daughters over the past few years.
To celebrate the latest clinic opening, the Mackay practice is offering a $69 deal for new patients which includes an adjustment along with a full history and physical examination.
