Mackay resource group continues search for new leader

MORE than two months since the resignation of Resource Industry Network general manager Adrienne Rourke, the organisation is still searching for a new leader.
RIN is continuing its recruitment process for a general manager while Dean Kirkwood has stepped into an acting role.
Mr Kirkwood will remain the MIW METS Export Hub manager, while also taking on duties of RIN acting general manager.
He replaces former acting general manager Mark Walter, who took up the position temporarily back in June.
RIN has also welcomed five local METS businesses that have kickstarted a six-week long journey to accelerate the commercialisation of their products and services.

The 2020 Regional Accelerator program is a Queensland Government-funded program that METS Ignited is delivering and being facilitated by RIN, and aims to boost SMEs working in the METS sector by helping them develop key skills.
Mr Kirkwood said the Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday region was a world-class leader in METS solutions and the Regional Accelerator project exposed local businesses to real customers and leading expertise.
“This will be the first program to operate out of the Resources Centre of Excellence with one of the biggest drawcards being the fact that participants get to liaise with, and pitch to, procurement representatives from major mining houses,” he said.
“They will also have access to specialist training and industry advice, collaborate with like-minded businesses, and expand their commercial opportunities by learning from the expertise of our delivery partners and presenters including consultant Annabel Dolphin and Andrew Klein.”
