NINE Mackay businesses have been awarded funding under the State's latest round of small business entrepreneur grants.

Throughout the state, 209 successful businesses will benefit from more than $725,000 in funding.

Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert said the grants would help businesses get established.

"These grants provide small businesses access to professional advice and support in the early stages of business and help them grow and employ more staff,” she said.

"Since July 2016, there have been 892 entrepreneur grant recipients approved for funding totalling more than $3.1 million.”

Locally owned business Modure Constructions received a grant of $1650.

The business, founded by builder Jarrod Olsen and his wife Kate, has delivered customer focused building solutions to Mackay for the past six years.

Modure plans on investing the money into group training sessions for staff, Mrs Olsen said.

"Team building activities and leadership training for our senior staff will help us grow stronger as a team and excel in our service to our clients,” she said.

"The grant, although only a small amount, has made the decision to invest in this area of business mentoring a lot easier.”

Golstone Pty Ltd, operated by Frank Casey and Michael Procopis, also received nearly $5000 of funding under the grant.

Mr Casey said the grant would help market and grow the business.

"This grant will allow us to access business mentoring to assist with the development of a solid marketing plan for our CLIXMATE support system,” he said.

"It will reduce our overall budget cost for the development of the strategy, so we definitely appreciate the extra help.”
