THE Chinese owners of derelict Midge Point resort Laguna Quays have not met with the council in more than a year.
Mayor Greg Williamson revealed the council has heard nothing from Laguna Quays owner Fullshare Holdings Group since they presented their vision for the area.
"It was quite spectacular, but we've heard nothing since so there's nothing more we can say other than we've seen their vision, but that we'll have to translate that into development applications for us to believe that's real,” he said.
"Yes we would like to see something happen, of course we would, it's a tremendous asset on the coast that's just going to rack and ruin now.
"This company, we believe, does have the dollars to make it work, it's a fairly large company, so we'd like to see something happen.”
The company has not lodged any development applications with the council.
Fullshare Holdings Group bought Laguna Quays in 2013, and said in 2015 that the first stage of development would begin in 2016.
A Fullshare Holdings Group spokesperson said the company is presently awaiting the review of the masterplan by its consultants and is "progressing” the proposed redevelopment.
