Gardian Real Estate is betting big on Mackay with a $500,000 renovation of its CBD offices.
The business, which holds divisions in residential and commercial sales and property management, has concentrated its real estate operations at 88 and 94 Victoria St following a 10-month renovation.
Previously, the firm’s operations were splintered between Victoria and Wood St and Gardian director Ben Kerrisk said the move to one location was designed to encourage more face-to-face interaction between the team and clients.
“We realised how much we work together,” he said.
“You can pick up the phone and talk to someone or send an email, or whatever it might be, but it is certainly better to do face-to-face interactions.
“Our brand promises that we talk to you.
“We still find that you need to talk to your clients and talk to potential clients.
“People still want that face-to-face interaction.”
Kenny Ogilvie, from Urban Trend Construction, fitted out 94 Victoria Street, which will house the firm’s sales and leasing division.
The offices at 88 Victoria St will house the property management team.
The move also comes after a growth spurt for the company, which has seen it double its rent roll and take on new agents.
The business now has 70 employees.
“We continue to grow, we don’t know when that is going to stop, just to keep up with demand,” he said.
“We are invested totally in Mackay.”
Mr Kerrisk expressed confidence in the long-term outlook of the city and its sometimes benighted CBD.
“We see some life, we see some activity in the area,” he said.
“We believe it (the CBD) is going to pick up. There are a lot of people out there with good ideas.
“Mackay is in a great place when you compare it to other parts of the state, across the land and even internationally.”
Gardian’s business is primarily residential, but Mr Kerrisk said its commercial side was growing with a big-name agent set to come on board next year, though he would not reveal who.
“You will find out in the New Year,” he said.
The business will retain a presence on Wood St through its finance and insurance division.
