Free haircuts to celebrate barber shop grand opening

AS A boy, Jaden Tomkinson would get his hair cut by Fla at his Northern Beaches barber shop near the service station.
Now at 24, Mr Tomkinson has chosen to open his second Mackay barber and coffee shop in the same complex.
“I got the keys last week and we’ve been working everyday on renos to get it ready,” Mr Tomkinson said.
The Jay’s Barber Co. Cuts and Coffee Northern Beaches store will open this Tuesday with a special grand opening offer.

“I’ve recently hired two new apprentices – a school-based and a young guy who finished school last year and we’re doing free cuts on the Tuesday to promote the first day of opening,” he said.
Mr Tomkinson said it was his dream to keep expanding, having started with a one-chair gig out of a demountable building in North Mackay four years ago.

“Now I have five chairs in my (first) shop and I’m setting up another two chairs in the Northern Beaches,” he said.
The shop opens at 9am on Tuesday for walk-ins at Shop 11 of 3 Rosewood Dr, Rural View.
