THE new proposed McDonald’s store will be the first 24/7 restaurant to service Andergrove, Beaconsfield, Slade Point and the Harbour.
The family restaurant which features a dining area, playspace and a McCafe could be Mackay’s sixth McDonald’s store and the third on the north side of the Pioneer River.
The planned location is within the new Coles Supermarket precinct being built along Oak St at Andergrove.
In documents submitted to Mackay Regional Council, the design plans include a 16-vehicle drive-through with two waiting bays, 34 car park spaces, and two entrances with one-off Oak St and the other off Sunita Dr.

The 6m tall restaurant has a 438sq m floor space and is expected to create about 100 jobs, “a large portion of which are likely to provide youth employment opportunities,” the submission stated.
“The proposed development will serve the local catchment area and increase the choice of food and beverage options for residents of the local community, including the immediate local
communities at Andergrove, Beaconsfield, Slade Point and Mackay Harbour.
“It will provide further eatery options in the current market and offers convenience to nearby shoppers.
“The local residents working night shift will benefit from the extended hours of operation.”
The plans further stated the restaurant met the council’s “strategic theme of Strong Communities” by creating a place for “community interaction”.
