The Bruce Highway is closed in one lane after a single vehicle rollover scattered debris across a stretch south of Sarina.

Paramedics were the first emergency crew on scene 20km south of Carmilla on the Bruce Highway early Monday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the vehicle had rolled over, injuring a man in his 30s.

The man was able to free himself from the wreckage and he was transported to Mackay Base hospital in a stable condition with a head injury.

Police directed traffic and personnel from the Department of Trains and Main Roads (TMR) closed the Bruce Highway near the crash in order to clear it of debris.

As of 7.40am, traffic was being managed in one lane and delays were expected as work continued to make the road safe.
